SITE INFO
This newly re-designed website was created by Bert Chiu (no relationship) after he won the Airliners.net 'logo design contest', held August of 2004. His design was one of hundreds entered in the competition, which was a creative exercise to replace the original Airliners.net banner logo which had graced the site since its infancy in 1997.

To the immediate right is a screenshot of the new homepage for Airliners.net, featuring the ever-dramatic 747 'flying out of the screen'. This particular photograph was taken by none other than this site's featured photographer, Sam Chui - a majestic Qantas Airways 747-400 taking off from Sydney's long runway. With Sam's kind permission, Bert was given the privilege of using this photo as the subject of his creative banner graphic design. Ultimately, this composition was chosen as the overall winner by the staff at Airliners.net, and Bert was awarded the 'grand prize' of $500 and a three-year First-Class membership at the highly-popular aviation website.

For those who are not familiar with Airliners.net, it is arguably the class-leading commercial aviation enthusiasts' website on the Internet, and is home to the largest photo database of commercial and military aircraft on the web, as well as being host to a plethora of information besides photography, such as aviation news, aircraft statistics, discussion forums and much more. The site is constantly expanding at a dynamic pace, and the banner graphic redesign was just a mere 'leading edge refinement' in its quest to further enhance its marketing identity and to exude a more sophisticated and upscale presence.

THE DESIGNER
Bert Chiu is a web/graphics design consultant specializing in professional website and graphics development for small-to-medium sized business clientele. He has a strong interest in commercial aviation, and is also an avid collector of airliner display models.

Currently, Bert has been busy developing and implementing several e-commerce websites, as well as designing his own proprietary and highly versatile website platform for dental practices, as shown to the right. This site will offer the standard information that dental practices require for marketing purposes, but in addition, will include an integrated index with definitions, dental terms and frequently-asked questions (FAQs) to better help their patients understand the details and complexities of dental procedures and treatments. When completed in early 2005, Bert will be teaming up with dental marketing groups to help promote this offering to dentists throughout southern California.

Bert's design consultancy business, Webwerks Design, is based in the northern San Diego county city of Encinitas, about 25 miles north of San Diego. He started the business in 1998, and since then, has established clients throughout southern California, Vancouver, B.C., Canada, and most recently (with the winning design proposal for Airliners.net), in Sweden!
